James Burgum serves as CEO of The Arthur Companies, Inc., a diversified agribusiness headquartered in Arthur, North Dakota. Founded in 1906, The Arthur Companies operates grain and agronomy businesses across North Dakota, Minnesota, and Idaho, with services spanning ag aviation, wholesale fertilizer, wheat breeding research, proprietary trading, and a strategic partnership with Anchor Ingredients in the food and ingredients space.

James is the co-founder of Arthur Ventures, an early-growth capital firm backing B2B software companies outside Silicon Valley. He also invests in and advises Sun Plains Group and Parcerio Ventures, which focus on real estate and venture capital in Brazil.

He began his career in the Office of the Governor of North Dakota, working on statewide economic development initiatives and holds a B.A. in Business Administration from North Dakota State University.
