Jeff Irwin grew up on a family farm in northeast North Dakota, in the heart of the Red River Valley. He has spent 46 years in the agricultural equipment industry—beginning in the parts department of a small John Deere dealership, later serving as Parts Manager for RDO Equipment, and then as a Parts Instructor for the John Deere Ag Parts Program at the North Dakota State College of Science. For the past 24 years, Jeff has been with Brandt Holdings Company’s Ag Division, which operates 38 John Deere dealerships across five states, serving as Aftermarket Manager and now as Learning and Development Coordinator.
On February 3, 1984—his 22nd birthday—Jeff’s father, a small farmer, took his own life at the age of 42. Jeff shares his story to raise awareness of the impact suicide has on rural families and communities, and to offer hope, understanding, and prevention for those who may be struggling. Jeff is currently writing a book about this difficult time to bring greater awareness and hope to others who face similar challenges.
