Tony was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. While growing up, he worked on the family feedlot and farm in the Texas Panhandle and the family cow-calf and stocker ranch in Oklahoma. Tony received a Bachelor and Master of Science in Agribusiness and Ruminant Nutrition, respectively, from West Texas A&M University. Tony then completed his Ph.D. at Colorado State University in Ruminant Nutrition and Metabolic Physiology.
Tony works for Five Rivers Cattle Feeding and has held various roles including General Manager of Kuner Feedlot, a 100,000 head feedyard in Kersey, where he was responsible for operations and for cattle and commodity procurement. Tony is currently the Director of Nutrition, Research, and Analytics for Five Rivers. In this role Tony’s team formulates the nutrition and cattle growth programs for the company, and he manages and coordinates the research function for the company conducting research trials in the areas of nutrition, growth, and health. Although his role is in the private sector, Tony has published 27 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 100 internal research trial publications. Tony is and has been active in many industry organizations and advisory boards including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Colorado Livestock Association, Plains Nutrition Council, Legends of Feedlot Nutrition, and the Beef Industry Food Safety Council.
In his spare time, Tony raises yearlings in Colorado, and Tony and his wife Megan and son Aidan live in Windsor, Colorado.
