Speaker Bio
I'm a 7th-generation dairyman, with roots tracing back to my grandparents Hans and Emili, who immigrated from Switzerland in 1925 and started a dairy in Southern California. After my grandfather’s passing, my parents Henry and Dorothy took over, and I later partnered with my brother John on the family dairy in San Jacinto after graduating from Cal Poly.

In 1988, my wife Toni and I launched our own dairy in Idaho with help from her mother, Annette Halman. Today, I farm alongside my son Hank III and his wife Sara, and my daughters and their spouses—Ryan and Desiree Visser, and Diana and Neill Grandy.

We milk 20,000 Holsteins across multiple facilities, farm 5,000 acres of corn, hay, triticale, and rotate potatoes with neighboring growers. Replacements are raised on two feedlots, and we sell day-old Beef-on-Dairy calves and Holstein bulls.

Our milk is marketed through Agropur in Jerome, Dairy Farmers of America, and Dairy Gold, following a recent facility purchase. I serve on the boards of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association, Idaho Beef Council, Western States Dairy, and the Mountain Council of DFA, and I’m chairman of the St. Edwards School Foundation in Twin Falls.
